Cheesy Onion Mushroom Shepard’s Pie

How to make the best Shepard’s pie using onion soup mix.

This Cheesy Onion Mushroom Shepard’s Pie is a simple meal that the whole family will love.


meat mixture

  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 1 tbsp Olive oil
  • 5 cloves garlic
  • 1/2 pkg onion soup & dip mix
  • 1/2 c water
  • 1 tsp Worcestershire sauce
  • 2-3 frozen cube spinach chunks
  • 1/4 tsp black pepper
  • 1/4 tsp Montreal steak spice
  • 1 sm can of mushrooms ( pieces/stems or whole)
  • 1 can of canned corn( peaches & cream)

Potato mixture

  • 4-5 Lg potatoes
  • 1 tbsp butter or margarine
  • 1/4 c milk
  • 2 tbsp grated Parmesan cheese
  • 2 tbsp Greek plain yogurt
  • 1/8 tsp Himalayan sea salt
  • 1/2 c old cheddar cheese
  • parsley

Recipe: Cheesy Onion Mushroom Shepard’s Pie

Boil potatoes till a fork can poke through. (Do Not over cook)

Fry ground beef in skillet, add garlic. Stir in 1/2 pkg of soup mix( be sure to shake contents to allow an even portion of the mix), spices continue with water, corn, and mushrooms. On med heat fry 15 min till nicely browned.

Strain potatoes and add back to pot. Add in butter, parmesan, yogurt, salt. Mash well.

In a large casserole dish add meat mixture evenly. Add potatoes to top of the dish, spread evenly but keep edges clean. Sprinkle cheddar cheese nicely over potatoes, as well as parsley to dress it up.

Cover with lid and place in oven at 375 for 15-20 min to melt cheese. ( may remove lid for baked cheese the last 5-10 min)

Serves 4-6. Dish out and enjoy.
