Thrill of Zip-lining and Rappelling in Cabo

On our trip to Cabo, we had the chance to knock a few things off our bucket list. We were able to do some traveling in which we took advantage of many excursions in the area. A big one was the thrill of Zip-lining and Rappelling in Cabo. The tour we took was Costa Azul near Palmilla off the #1 Hwy. Not far from San Jose Del Cabo. Once you get a bridge that crosses over a dry river bed, you exit up the river bed into this canyon. It is a pretty cool drive.

Once you reach the destination point you are greeted by the guides. They are all friendly and love to laugh and joke. They have a training area where they introduce the guides and go over everything you need to know to stay safe. Unfortunately, they do not let you take anything with you. That includes your camera. Two reasons, They will not retrieve dropped items and they like to take the photos and offer them at a reasonable price at the end. They supply bottled water.

The equipment used is top quality, PETZL PRO the safest and most comfortable equipment available. The instructors are experienced athletes who are  members of the National Federation of climbing and mountaineering sports.

Once you are all set up with the gear needed, you start the trek up the desert pathways. As you climb the windy, sometimes steep pathway up the canyon you reach the first Zipline. The first one is always the hardest but once you do it, it is a breeze and just enjoy the rush and the beauty around you. There are 8-10 Zip-lines. It’s alright to be scared but DO NOT back out. It’s an experience you will remember for a lifetime and you will be proud you did the unthinkable. It was a very hot day and I highly recommend a good sunscreen.

The Rappel comes after a swinging bridge. Once you reach this bluff you change into rappelling equipment. I believe it is a 160′ cliff. The hardest part is getting on the rope and turning backward. It feels scary but once you are in position it is a thrilling rush. Guides are at the top and bottom guiding you all the way down. I held the rope wrong at first and got rope burn through the glove. The guides yelled at me to stop and position the arms into the proper position. Duh, It made all the difference. Follow what they say and don’t try and go it your way. Lesson learned. lol.

At the end, you are given a Tequila sampling. They had some really neat flavors. I never knew you could get sipping flavored tequila. The 3 bottles shown are the flavored with coffee liqueur flavors, fruity.and nutty combinations. The clear bottle is a 100% Agave Tequila.

The whole tour is 3.5 hours.
