Could Wen Be The Cause Of Hair Loss?

Is there any TRUTH to the alleged Lawsuit against the brand creator of Wen, Chaz Dean, and marketer Guthy-Renker?

I have been using Wen for over a year now. Like many women,  introduced to Wen from the infomercial on T.V. Celebrity endorsed by Brooke Shields, Alyssa Milano, and Nicollette Sheridan), Who doesn’t want to have hair like celebrities. I know I was caught up in the hoopla of beautiful thick frizz-free hair, Claiming to be a 5 in 1 Beauty breakthrough.

I ordered Wen by phone and received my products within a week or two. Upon the first application, my hair did feel soft and easy to comb out. I was actually impressed. I continued to use Wen although it had seemed over time my hair lost its luster. I followed directions by adding a small amount, like a drop to my hands to work through my hair before towel drying. This did help my hair feel softer and easier to comb out. I use a pick to comb my hair and I noticed I was losing quite a bit of hair considering the product, claims to make hair more manageable and beautiful. I chalked it up to be stress or my diet.

I continued Wen and added some extra nutrition to my diet. I worked on my life stresses as well.

Unfortunately, I was noticing my hair loss was not improving and I had itchy patches on my head.  At one point these little bumps got irritated by my scratching which got infected to the point I had swollen glands. Still, I did not put the blame on Wen,  as I had faith it was what it claimed to be.  It must be something I may be doing. I lost a significant amount along my hairline where it is most noticeable.( patch growing in) I was embarrassed to go out.  Styling my hair was beginning to be a nightmare.  I dread people touching my hair. I would post pic’s of the irritation but it does not show well in photos.

Wen claims their ingredients are natural botanical’s and herbs and do not contain sodium laurel sulfate or harsh chemicals. Although, One ingredient found is hydroxy citronellal,  banned in the EU because it is known to be a human immune system toxin.

It is not known as to the cause of hair loss and scalp irritations. It seems it may be caused by the active ingredients (that) act as a depilatory and caustic agent, either by causing a chemical reaction that damages the hair strand and/or follicle.”

Recently, Over 200 women have filed a class-action lawsuit claiming irreversible damage and severe injuries caused by the use of Wen.

I know I will Stop using Wen as of today and I will follow up on my hair conditions. It looks to me that the claims may have some truth. Something I definitely will be investigating further.

I honestly can’t say that WEN was the cause of my issues however after I quit using it my issues improved.

Update:

I can say I do like the Rejuvenating Treatment mist. The ingredients in the mist seem to help with itchy skin due to my eczema. It really soothes the skin from inflammation.
