Lake Agnes Tea House Hike

Devil’s Thumb

Getting there:

Lake Agnes Tea House Hike is a 7.6 km trail that starts from the Chateau Lake Louise Hotel and ends at a rustic cabin tea house that overlooks Lake Agnes and the spectacular mountain formations that surround it.

Big Beehive

The Hike:

The heavily trafficked Lake Agnes Trail is relativity easy however with the steady incline throughout it is rated moderate. Definitely, one that gets you sweating and a few frequent stops may be needed to catch your breath.

Halfway up you come across Mirror Lake which is a perfect place to rest and take some photos of the Big Beehive and the emerald-colored lake.

A welcome sight is a small but beautiful waterfall tumbling down from Lake Agnes above. To the right, a 2 tiered wooden staircase will take you up to the lake and the tea house.

At the teahouse, you can grab a light lunch of sandwiches, chips, and salsa, sweets, a cup of tea, or some cool refreshing lemonade to quench your thirst.

Washrooms are available but don’t expect much considering the location. There are two rustic outhouses about 50 meters uphill from the teahouse, which is tiresome sight after the long ascending hike.

Conclusion:

Rest on the many benches or take a dip in the lake to cool off.

This is a great hike in itself but if you are more of an avid hiker you can also choose to hike the Little Beehive, Big Beehive among others.

The Devil’s Thumb hike is a bit more advanced wherefrom the tea house you can see people atop a peak wondering how the heck they got up there.
