Marble Canyon Winter Walk

The Marble Canyon winter walk has 7 bridges that zig zag up and over the deep limestone canyon and the meandering creek below.

Marble Canyon is a 1.4 km trail located in British Columbia, 35 min from Banff Alberta, or 1 hour from Radium Hot Springs BC.

History

This magnificent gorged canyon is where Tokumm Creek joins Vermillion River. Millions of years ago fossilized Cambrian soft-bodied organisms were discovered here as well as new species found as early as 2014.

The trail starts on a well-beaten narrow path upside of the creek. Make sure you look over the bridges into the gorge below as there are some stunning formations and cool pools of water.

At the one bridge, you can see a frozen waterfall on the right cascading from above. This is where you can often view ice climbers scaling their way down into the depth below.

The final bridge, blue glacier water fills the pool below a semi-frozen waterfall.

If you are more adventurous there is a trail that follows up the river, caution is required as your walking on the frozen snow-packed river. However, you may hop onto Kauffman Lake trail or Paint Pots trail for some scenic sights.

Summer is also a beautiful time to enjoy the sights, I’m sure the views won’t disappoint whether you visit Marble Canyon in winter or summer months. Do both seasons and compare the stunning scenery and the natural wonders of the canyon.
